We are rebranding from Ten Thousand Villages of Cincinnati to "Ethically Crafted". Read more below for answers to common questions regarding this change.
Why are you rebranding?
The national organization, Ten Thousand Villages, decided in January 2025 to close all of their physical retail stores and move to an online only model. In order to stay open as a brick and mortar shop, our stores need to rebrand.
What is changing?
Mainly, just our name and logo. We maintain a purchasing relationship with Ten Thousand Villages and will carry their products in addition to the other fair trade and socially conscious makers we currently do. As a separate business name and identity our pricing, sales, inventory and retail policies may now differ from Ten Thousand Villages.
Are you under new ownership?
No. Our team of staff and volunteers remain unchanged, as does our board of directors.
Are you closing?
No. As part of our transition, we are thoughtfully evaluating how to best serve our community and sustain our work long-term. Your continued support in our stores and donations help keep our mission alive.
What about other Ten Thousand Villages stores?
Ethically Crafted currently operates two stores only: 2011 Madison Road in O'Bryonville and 11316 Montgomery Road in Harper's Point. These are the only two locations that are rebranding to this name. Other locations around the country are operated independently from us and have/will be rebranding to their own new names. We cannot speak for any changes to their stores or policies.
Is Ten Thousand Villages national organization closing?
The national Ten Thousand Villages, based in Pennsylvania, plans to operate as an online-only business.
Will you still carry Ten Thousand Villages products?
Yes, we will continue purchasing items from Ten Thousand Villages, in addition to the other fair trade and socially conscious makers we currently do.
Will you still carry the same items?
Yes. Strategic decisions are constantly being made to eliminate less popular products and bring in new, exciting products but overall our store assortment will remain the same so that we can continue supporting the same artisans we are currently committed to.
Will my gift cards still work?
Our ability to accept plastic Ten Thousand Villages gift cards was discontinued on December 31st, 2025. They are now redeemable online only at tenthousandvillages.com
Paper gift certificates, regardless of which name/logo are on them are valid through the dates listed on them.
What about my rewards points?
Our rewards system remains unchanged. Any coupons, points or earnings are exactly the same as before.
What about my donations?
Ethically Crafted is a locally owned 501(c)(3) non-profit. Any donations you have made either in store or through our Give Butter fundraising site remain locally in our stores to support our mission and continue our operations. If you would like to support us with a one time or recurring monthly donation please visit our site here.
Will you accept my online returns?
Purchases made on tenthousandvillages.com are no longer accepted in store. You must contact their customer service department to facilitate any returns.
Can I return Ten Thousand Villages products purchased elsewhere?
No. We do not accept returns from any other store, and you would not be able to return product purchased in Ethically Crafted to any other store of a different name out of the city/state.
Will you match a price/sale happening on Ten Thousand Villages' website?
No. As a separate organization focused on maintaining financial viability to keep our brick and mortar stores open there will be instances where prices and discounts vary from those offered by Ten Thousand Villages. We will not match any price or sale offered.
